Description: In October 2021 as travel was beginning to open up again, I along with my son Matthew and daughter Holly spent seven days in Jordan. Most famous for Petra, one of the new seven wonders of the world and the location of the Holly Grail in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade we wanted to find out more what this country had to offer. We started in the capital Amman visiting the Citadel and Roman Amphitheatre as well as the local Desert Castles of Azraq, Amra and Khranah. We also visited Ajloun and it’s crusader castle before touring the ancient city of Jerash, the most well preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy. We then headed south and along the way made stops at Madaba to see the 6th century mosaic map of the Holly Land, Mount Nebo where Moses viewed the Promised Land from and Shobak Castle another one of the Crusader Castles dating from the 12th century. We spent a whole day at Petra and walked a total of 28 miles around the historical site. Before spending the night under canvas in the Wadi Rum Desert. We finished our trip floating in the Dead Sea before flying back home.
